colour boards - shades of grey

(no. not 50 shades. gross. what kind of a blog do you think this is?)
i think it's easy to say that my life revolves around black and grey. i love them. colours? what are those? so this is my home... white walls, and black and grey art. black and grey clothes and jewelry smattered everywhere. black and grey everything. perfect.
it just feels right.
there's something about grey and black. something so haunting but safe. something cool, but warm. there's a piece of me that could sit in darkness, because it just feels anonymous. and i like it that way. like if everyone had to wear only black and grey, we'd truly see what people were made of. if people could only see in greyscale, there would be a lot more emphasis on a person, and not on that which decorates them.
maybe that's where my love comes from.

my weekend in summary

this weekend was sort of relaxing, sort of crazy. fun all over.
appropriate for the weather; marinated kale salad - my new best friend; my NEW AMAZING sweater i won from gracie; libretto with erin, impromptu friday dates are best; mail galore!; zombies - my sister knows me well; thank you cards with cartoon drawings; dinner with a handsome man; necklace presents and martinis in stripes; lazy breakfast; tea, blankets, blood red nails and dexter; raptors game (photo by jeff on his instagram); new branding - sneak peek!; sealed to be sent to pen pal favorito; the mess i frequently make on my bed on sunday evenings.
friday: with full intent to spend friday in bed (i'm not joking here people), i messaged my friend erin about some stuff we had been chatting about, and she suggested a libretto date. who am i, to say no to the love of my life - libretto? so, after a quick gym stop i trekked home, showered, changed and erin picked me up. we had a drink while waiting at the communists daughter (always love a drink or two there), and then headed over to libretto, where we had our favourite drinks, some gnocchi (new to us), and 2 of our fave pizzas. also - note. if you go, ask for matt. new favourite server. of course, all the lovely people there make me smile everytime i'm in, but matt totally humoured us with our absurdity. so, he got brownie points. then, after a desert, erin dropped me off at home where i watched mad men, the league and new girl. good tv mix for right before bed.
saturday: i woke up to a phone call at noon, and honestly could have slept for hours. spent the early afternoon cleaning, purging, eating, and packing some pen pal goodies (yay!) all before picking jeff up at the GO station. then, we did some run arounds - dropped some goods off at value village to purge the apartment; picking up some groceries, and dropping off clothes. then, had some time to just relax, have a drink, and hangout a bit before heading out. we drove downtown to park my car at my office, and then stopped for some thai food for dinner. we then walked west to czehoski, where my dear friend charm was having a stop in birthday party. we spent the evening chatting with her and friends, in the dimly lit upstairs of the bar (where i had never been - super private!), and enjoying the atmosphere. we then walked home - with a quick stop at poutinis, where jeff had never been (i know. i know. don't worry, it's been taken care of), and home to bed. exhausted. too late.
sunday: woke up late-ish. could have slept longer. tried to figure out the time difference. realized we slept WAY later than thought. we went for a walk to get some groceries, and enjoyed getting out of the apartment in the nice day - then made a huge brunch/breakfast of hash browns, salad, and all the makings of a good breakfast. watched dexter, ate breakfast, drank tea, and laid on the couch with blankets. this to me, is obligatory sunday behaviour. literally spent the day doing just that. lounging. half napping. drinking tea. then, got ready to go to the raptors game, and took the streetcar downtown to see the raptors beat the timberwolves (thank you free tickets from raptors kick off party). once the game was done, jeff hopped on a GO train, and i headed home to make some leather goodies (jewelry-ish), and watch mad men. in bed. it's my sunday night tradition.
hope everyone's weekend was fantastic.... and WARM (did i mention i hate winter?).

'... help each other belong to themselves'

this weekend will be an unplanned break. though i have a birthday party to attend on saturday for my dear and lovely friend charm (it's my yearly duty), the rest of the weekend is without plan. which is amazing. maybe get my website and everything all tidied and finish up? maybe? hunh? we'll see.... i may just end up in bed all day saturday, eating chips, and watching mad men with green tea.
both sound PERFECTLY wonderful to me.

either way, it will be time spent with my dear friends - my best friend of all, myself. giving time to friendships (and myself) to simply be.
happy weekend everyone!
