colour boards - shades of grey

(no. not 50 shades. gross. what kind of a blog do you think this is?)
i think it's easy to say that my life revolves around black and grey. i love them. colours? what are those? so this is my home... white walls, and black and grey art. black and grey clothes and jewelry smattered everywhere. black and grey everything. perfect.
it just feels right.
there's something about grey and black. something so haunting but safe. something cool, but warm. there's a piece of me that could sit in darkness, because it just feels anonymous. and i like it that way. like if everyone had to wear only black and grey, we'd truly see what people were made of. if people could only see in greyscale, there would be a lot more emphasis on a person, and not on that which decorates them.
maybe that's where my love comes from.

colour boards - white as day

i've always sort of feared white. to me it stood for clothes i could never ever move in (for fear of messing them up), walls that were boring, sofas you couldn't sit on. but then i moved into an entirely white apartment. and it was like waking up. a clean slate.... fresh. and then i thought of all the things that were white, that meant newness - like a fresh snowfall.
it's perfect and beautiful for a short period of time, but if you get to see and experience those perfect moments, they are unlike anything else.
so white and i are ok now. i'm still hesitant to wear white... but i'll gawk at it from afar.

colour boards - colour of the sea

i love aqua, green, blue - any shade of all of them... i love the way they look against a persons skin, against a wall, against the clouds and the sand. it reminds me of water, the sky, and so much of nature that i can't help but be drawn to it...
and a colour (a NATURALLY occurring colour, nevertheless) that can be found in so many shades? perfect.

colour boards - it's all gold

i've been grouping lately - things in colours, shapes, sizes, textures, and so on. and it always comes back to one thing - every day items around us can continue to be inspiring if we give them a chance - rearrange them, group them, allow them to share the spotlight with new items, or old things reimagined.
i try to rearrange my apt every now and then - i find it helps me to become continuously inspired by the things around me... things like my books, my clothes - even my dishes. moving things into new spaces and configurations makes them feel new again (which also helps when i'm feeling like i want to clean sweep and buy all new stuff).... (which i clearly can't do).
pinterest is a god send for this.
collecting, maintaining, collaborating, curating. so, i share small selections of my colour boards from pinterest. as well as a corresponding - and equally inspiring - print/photo from some of my faves.
