clinton

the clinton's approach

I was never a fan of Bill Clinton. I didn't hate him, he just never appeared with the confidence, suave and 'je ne sais quois' that a leader should have (unlike stephan dion - HA!)… however, I have always had respect for Hilary. To me, she ran the 'Clinton Presidency' - and after Bush, everyone knows how luck we were in that period.
Critics say she hit below the belt with a few comments in the election period, but I think there is some difficulty in being a female in power. There's a fine line between being called a lesbian (because you're a strong woman), and being reminded constantly that you need be a 'lady'… Hilary had tact, diplomacy and honour, but she wanted to win. She was a politician, looking out for a country.
Nonetheless, I think Obama made his first courageous move, that allowed me to gain confidence in him, by making her secretary of state. Well done Obama.
I digress - yesterday, Clinton did what few (VERY few) have done before. She blamed America for something. She has stepped up, and let American's know that the border problems are not a result of horrible Mexicans polluting America - instead, she has placed the onus on America to share the blame with Mexico for dealing with the violence resulting from the durg and weapon trade occuring across the US/Mexico border. Where Obama said he would like to do more, Clinton stepped up and told the american people the truth: "[America's] insatiable demand for illegal drugs fuels the drug trade."
Thank you Hilary, for that breath of fresh air.
