Happy thanksgiving all!
I spent the weekend enthralled with love from family.
Friday: I drove home after a late night at the office, to spend the night with my sisters. sangria night with the sisters is a fair tradition in our family. only as of recently has my youngest been able to partake. we made a vase *ahem... pitcher of sangria, and enjoyed sangria, cigars, laughter, and dancing with the sisters and some friends. went over to one of my middle sister's friend's houses for some post sangria music, and then walked home to sleep.
Monday: my youngest sister had to head back to nova scotia, so we packed up, and brought her to the airport. i then went over to visit with my friend who is pregnant. hadn't hung out with her since NYC. Spent the day lounging - watching TV, talking, eating, drinking. I hadn't done that in a long long time, and it was nice to get to hang with her and her husband. my middle sister then picked me up and we went home to our parent's house for dinner. spent the rest of the night lounging and watching sports - which i will never take for granted, as i do not have cable at home. drove home at around 10pm to try to avoid as much traffic as possible.

Saturday: my parents left my sisters and i to get to my grandma's by ourselves - big mistake. it took us about 4 hours to drive 2, as we stopped every chance we could. to take photos, buy lunch, get starbucks, take more pictures, and dance to the radio. out the window. amazing. i'm lucky to have sisters who are also my best friends. we arrived in time to help prep for turkey dinner at my gma's - my dad's mom. with 19 people, it was a small version of dinner usually. we all sat down in various rooms, and enjoyed the dinner - my sister and i enjoying tofurkey. it was awesome. another late night though. we went for a walk to bring my cousin back to her place, and got to take in the amazing weather.
Sunday: we woke up, and lounged mostly. my middle sister left early for work, so she wasn't around. on our way out of town, we stopped to go boot shopping for my youngest sister, and browsed a bit - probably a lot more than my dad cared. The drive up to barrie was nice - the traffic was fine, and the weather was perfect. we had a 2nd dinner with my mom's side - my cousin and her husband, and two kids, and my aunt and uncle (and uncle's brother - my 2nd uncle by marriage?). had a GREAT conversation with my uncle about international development, knowledge sharing, etc. (as he is the VP for the canadian federation for agriculture), and then sat down for another amazing dinner - with fresh carrots, potatoes, beets, and coleslaw (aka. cabbage) from my aunt and uncles farm. stayed quite late, and didn't get home until about 1:00am. the beauty of a dad driving - sleeping in the car. yesssss....
cheese and pickle sandwich - priorities in life; matching; my aunts amazing homemade rolls; family time |
hope you all had full bellies, hearts, and minds this weekend :)
