my weekend in summary

i had a wonderful weekend with friends... i spent friday night with my good friends from the bead store i work at - erin and alex. we have a habit of drinking a bit too much (by accident), eating WAY too much (totally our fault), and talking WAY too late into the night. Friday night was no exception to the rule. We proposed a hand made gift exchange, and while erin cheated, we ended up with wonderful AMAZING gifts, that you can only receive from talented, inspired women who know you better than you know yourself.
Erin blessed us with incredible homemade books, by her friend Laura. Erin chose books for us that embodied our personalities. She then described us to Laura, who created our books with details to personify the books with our personalities. Can I say - I have never seen such a beautiful book in my entire life.

Alex created gift boxes for us - E, A & I have a tradition in which we 'destash' our love to one another. Aka. Erin goes through her things, picks out items she does not use or hasn't used in years, and creates packages. Our gifts from alex were a mix of destash and goodies from various places. Handmade ornaments from Little Lola, beautiful cupcake soaps and lipgloss from the muskoka soap company… animal gift tags. Amazing.

Saturday I woke up, and drove to Hamilton, where Greig and I met my family for the yearly Shea fam. holiday play. We see a family play at theatre aquarius, and then gorge on chinese food. Since our normal chinese dumpling was closed (ohmigosh traditional chinese food is to die for), we settled for kitsch chinese… chicken balls and fried rice. My veg. sister and I had the hottest hot and sour soup I have ever experienced in my life, as well as some spring rolls and lo mein… ok and chow mein too. We're pigs. The rest of the fam had a dinner for five or something equally stupid. We know how to eat.
Saturday night I drove up to Waterloo to hang out with my lovely ladies who I was a residence don with at Laurier. These women were such an important part of my life in fourth year, that I welcome ANY oppourtunity to hang out with them. Unfortunately, we're all spread out, and it's tough. Nevertheless, we enjoyed late night pizza, gingerbread (vegan!) house fronts, bambino (our FAV), crazy carpeting (a cornerstone of canadian culture) and lots and lots of laughter. I miss them every minute I'm not with them.
I had to get up early, and take off for work on Sunday. Finished my shopping… well… almost.
I am so lucky to be blessed with wonderful women in my life, and this weekend God sent me yet another reminder.
To leave you with a small dose of a reminder that love can exist for years to come… I stumbled upon this incredible blog - simplistic and beautiful - and a reminder that no matter how long we're with someone… it's the little things that count - like matching travel mugs.
