I've been itching. not the bad kind - the good.
recently, I've had a personal trait of mine thrown in my face (not in the bad way), and I realized that I have too much stuff. for someone who really believes that we live in a society where we value goods too highly, I have somehow managed to accumulate my own massive pile of "things". it is starting to strain my relationship, and therefore, I need to come face to face with this creature.
my compilation of goods is not for greed - I am not one to show off all the things I have - it's necessity. or so I think. I jump from project to project, and need the stuff to do so. I own paint brushes, and acrylics, a sewing machine and fabric, beads galore, and paper scraps. all things that I use - just not frequently.
I've got piles of clothes, cans of food, and lots of art supplies to go somewhere that's NOT my house.
So, I have compiled my list of places that need my stuff more than I do. it will be a tearful parting, and not a pretty one - that's for sure. However, it's good for me, for my relationship, for my mind, and of course, the people receiving. this is totally selfish giving - and I can accept that.
Art Supplies: Sketch always needs stuff for homeless or underprivledged youth.
North York Women's Shelter: clothes, home goods, and things for anyone who has to leave their home without much notice.
For those of you in the Waterloo area - I would donate my SOUL to the working centre if God didn't have such a grasp on it. food, office supplies, and so on.
one another note, while on the working centre site, of course I was distracted, and wanted to share my favourite part… barterworks.
