these brass beauties, with the amazing geometric brass beads... i'm sad to part with. these are some of my few pieces that are 100% vintage materials. they're prefect worn as layering pieces. i wish i could keep them all.

go get some goodies! message me if you have any questions at all!

friends, zoos, and the oddities

i am so enamoured with this video... a visit to the zoo, and a conversation between dear friends iris apfel and duro olowu. they met in 2005, and have been friends ever since - she and her husband carl are like my second parents,” says Olowu. “of course she loves fashion and I’m in the fashion business, but it’s not based on that. It’s just that I respect them, I like them and anyway I’ve always been a sucker for a 90-year-old broad.”
now THIS... this is real friendship.

iris: "the odd couple"; duro: "not so odd actually - it's the rest of the world that's odd, iris"
iris: "people like you to be a trained monkey"; duro: "what do you really think people think of you?"; iris: "i'll tell you the truth, i don't really think about it.... it's their problem, not mine, so i'm not going to stress about it."
iris: "love is wonderful - i think it's mutuality liking the same things, having respect for eachother. sex has something to do with it, but real love is not sex. i don't think today... young people don't seem to understand anything about relationships - they're so attached to buttons and pressing buttons that they have no time for anything human. it's much easier to jump into somebody's pants than to get into somebody's head."
iris: "animals i think are much better than people; why; well, i think they're more honest. if they like you, if they don't like you."
iris: "most people i find so boring i don't want to talk to them - sometimes i like to be left alone; what do you do when you're left alone; i like to sit and think. i really enjoy thinking."

jhyve wears jewelry.

JHYVE continuously makes gold. he's been working on george nozuka's new album, he's been working as vivid culler and making some amazingly different sounds to his normal stuff. he's been working on tons of collaborations, including some with soul, and producing some videos, like this one with diia.
in and amongst all of this stuff, he's also working on his own stuff. he's released his new video for 'to the sky', which features jewelry by yours truly. and man... he rocks it. so glad i got to work with someone with the guts to layer and stack and style these pieces to the nines.
dude. nailed it.

ok. i'm going to include my fave vivid culler sounds too... because they're amazing summer songs.

my weekend in summary

guys. i woke up at 5:30 am on friday morning. i've shared this with just about anyone who will listen... and i'm going to repeat it. 5:30 AM. THE MORNING. that's how i began my weekend. it was hectic, so not a ton of photos, but it was full and good. since friday saturday were my days off, i'm a bit wonky with weekend updates, but let's just include friday, and we'll be good to go.
the only other thing awake at 5:30 am on a friday morning are the little slugs; vintage postcards, found post packing/unpacking - to be sent to a postcard collector friend; girl's night out for a goodbye - including nachos; the ladies; the shots; the evening's conversation; my version of super fancy pants cosmetics (i'm soooooo not getting this whole grown up lady woman thing).

this weekend had: an early morning wake up and workout with keighty from tight club on friday morning (who, if you can go see, DO IT. she's amazing and wonderful); a wander around the strathcona hood; a day spent in bed with a weird wonky woozy feeling - lots of comfy clothes, and lots of game of thrones; a 3 hour afternoon nap on a friday; a trek out to kits to hang with some new lady friends for a couple of goodbyes - including some hilarious sightings, great conversation on books and music, and perhaps a little dance party (confirmed - there was a dance party); nursing a major migraine until about noon on saturday - then a visit for some sunglasses to north van; sushi lunch in our old stompin' ground; i FINALLY used up all my shoppers optimum points, and went wild with real grown up things to use on my face, so i don't get old and wrinkly looking in the next year or so (trust me - this is a valid fear) - shopping with free money is fun; then a relaxed night in with a swollen eye and a long conversation with my parents for the evening; then, work on sunday, after a good (stationary) bike ride, and a quick home pilates bit. craaaazy weekend!
i've been nursing this weird swollen, itchy, red and super weird looking eye thing - not pink eye. calm down. it's been for about 5 days. i think it's gone now... but i'm going to give it another day.... so i've been rocking my steve urkel esque glasses for a while. needless to say, on the weekend i would have loved to avoid the public, i managed to be out more than usual.
happy monday all!
