things i'm in love with

this week was another busy one - though they all seem busy in relation to being unemployed - and thus my reason for being an uber sucky blogger this week. totally trying to get back into the swing of yoga classes, work schedules, and balancing a small business on the side. it'll all come back, i'm sure, but until then, i'm feeling a bit overwhelmed and like i just can't get my rhythm (i just watched the new girl where nick spells 'rhythm' 14 different ways in his book, and had to seriously look that up). spent some time really getting to know yoga pants, and seeing lots of friends (which is a bit bizarre when you are moved across the country). and it was a great week. filled with great weather (i got a tom's tan). (also, do you know how much STUFF comes up when you google 'toms tan'?? lots. it's actually a mix between sad, scary, and overwhelming. this was my all time favourite, no competition).
next week i start getting into real work, designing and manufacturing for my fall line, working with some great stores and people for some events, and lots of writing. it's going. to. be. CRAZY. (but the good kind - like putting peanut butter on a hamburger kinda crazy).
so for today, things i love.
VEGAN NUTELLA. but more importantly. NUTELLA with 3 INGREDIENTS. this may have to be on my list of things to make this weekend. it may also include more hummus, as i screwed up this week's batch by accidentally adding the water that i boiled my sundried tomatoes in. i'm a cooking loser.

my wholehearted attempt to be as happy as i can make myself.... authentically. like this adorbs little dude. on stilts. with access to the WORLD.

THESE. omg. these videos. enough that i felt the need to actually TYPE out o. m. g. in text.

and finally. if we please, this video collaboration between david lynch and lykke li. amaze. grab a cuppa tea, sit down, and relax. i often play it to wake up slowly (because we all know how mornings and i get along. we don't)

happy weekend everyone!

my weekend in summary

this weekend i had a visitor - A VISITOR! my lovely friend erin was visiting after a conference in victoria, and we had tons of time to hang, chat beads, laugh lots, explore in the sunshiney vancouver goodness - and we even fit in a day trip to whistler. and saw a BEAR.

erin letting the breeze flow through her hair (i have hair envy), and take perfect photographic evidence of the amazing drive up to whistler; mountain bikers at the lifts in the village; streams and quiet spots; the memorial for nodar. will always be heartwrenching; hangin' at the olympic rings; a beer everywhere we go; THE BEAR; the mountains on the way home; urban gardens in kits; my fave view in van - from the granville bridge; some drinks with new friends at jericho beach; the view on a sunday evening;  watching the sunset with a beer is unlike much else; the walk home in the sunset.

this weekend had: a very relaxed night on friday, involving some all important grocery shopping (we're crazy outrageous party animals); then saturday included a quick stop at the library, then a day trip to whistler, involving some good old fashioned photography, walking, touristy fun, and some food and beer in the village; then a drive home through the mountains - and have i mentioned we saw a BEAR?! - and a popcorn movie party. sunday involved some internet catch up, and then a wander around town. bead stores, gardens, sushi lunches, and wanders across the two best bridges. then, a trip out to jericho beach for a great view and a few beer. a late night, and a long trip across vancouver. great sunday evening.

and, just because i'm listening to it right now... and everyone in the world needs to hear this song.

things i'm in love with

this week, i finished my first week of work... full time for the first two weeks of training, and then i get to step into the world of the lululemon lab... i am antsy with anticipation. so this week, a few things i'm in love with that are summing up perfectly my excitement, as well as me coming to terms with the changes life has thrown at me (and i've caught like the softball catcher i.... was in grade 6).

this quote, from kim mcmillen
"when i loved myself enough, i began leaving whatever wasn't healthy. this meant people, jobs, my own beliefs and habits - anything that kept me small. my judgement called it disloyal. now i see it as self-loving" (when i loved myself enough)

A BABY DUCK IN SOME DUDES POCKET. oh for crying out loud. if that's not good enough for you (you cold, stone hearted awful human being), then here are more baby ducks being cute.... BY LIVING.

this incredible snippet of an essay by alain de botton on sex - exploring it's humiliation, and mortifying moments, with such amazing eloquence: "without sex, we would be dangerously invulnerable; might believe we were not ridiculous; wouldn’t know rejection and humiliation so intimately."

and finally, this relationship.

what's up in vancouver

it's been crazy here. trying to press through SO much stuff to get done before i start working, and all this extra time i have is no longer.
so what have i been up to? we gots ourselves a bit of a bloggy for re:claim jewelry. yea! now you can keep up with re:claim hap'nins. i'm a fool - both here, AND in real life - so please expect lots of that on a re:claim centred blog. event photos, what's goin' on with re:claim, shows i'll be at, new product releases, etc. maybe even a hilarious video or two (though i usually save the premium stuff for here). AND, re:claim is being sold in 3 very awesome, perfect fit stores in vancouver - who also happen to be 3 of my all time favourite stores as well. coincidence? ha. not likely. you can find re:claim in vancouver at oliver & lilly's in the granville shopping area, much and little on main street, as well as brick and mortar living in new westminster. go say hi, see some jewelry, and check out these beautiful stores!
re:claim on display at Oliver & Lillys - they are the best at making designers look amazing.

if you're a store, interested in carrying re:claim, please contact me here. loving meeting more people in the vancouver market, and feeling out the differences between here and toronto. thanks vancouver, for embracing me so wholeheartedly!
