crickets?

i know. i know. this week in blogging has been pathetic.
sorry friends.... work is a gong show and there's lots going on all over the world and honestly.... blogging is what i would LIKE to be doing. however. apparently there's this thing called 'being a grown up' (a long time thought of myth in my mind). and it's real. and i've been summoned.
i know. horrendous. i hate it.
however, apparently it's non-negotiable. as a result.... this week (and maybe next - DON'T HATE ME) are going to be a bit boring and quiet here on the bloggy poo.
but do not fret! i will return. full of vigour and life, and no doubt lots of things to complain about, or love on.
in the meantime, feel free to tweet me, or write me to tell me what you are imagining on my blog in the dream world where i have time to do it freely.... i'll play too!
anyone else stressed and crazed?

mos for bros.

it's one of my favourite months of the year.
it's movember folks.
you know what that means?
my sleazy friends convince me why i should give them money to grow a moustache - when i, in fact, despise moustaches (december 1st is the best day ever).
as i did last year, and the year before that.
but, i love them all..... so i donate.
so, when i went out this year, this is what i got.....
adam.... cousin from another aunt (trust me - logistically, this makes sense).... who doesn't want to be further acquainted with men in tight rubber gloves. unless it's because they're ALL doing dishes together (cause then, it's just nice cleanliness we're talking about!).
my 'big brother' ryan, who uses terms like 'the bomb' and is my little niece's dad. and is raising money like a real man should.
the man whose only explanation was to send me a photo of his handlebar moustache 12 days in (he's the guy other guys tape photos in their lockers of) - graham.
and last but not least, the guy who approached me, before i even had time to throw out my request. my vancouver friend tyler. he likes spelling, and tweeted me (along with other giant celebrities - like me) right away.
clockwise from top left: ryan, tyler, adam and graham. sweet. sweet. staches gentlemen. even if  half of them are fake.

i adore them all for participating in this fantastic month. so thank you men.
and everyone? find someone with a moustache. and donate to them. it could save a life. you know you want to.

my weekend in summary

this weekend was hectic and stressful, but filled with lots of things i like. i know this, because nearly every photo i took was of food. so it was good.
chats with the university boys; flowers for me - for no reason flowers are the best; food with friends, and speciality beer; darce, me, and jeff - 3 people, 1 booth bench; 6 pizzas + 1 table = a crammed eating excursion; gary (THA BEST) doing his best to deliver a perfect photo - from atop the bar (i dare you to ask me why i love PL. i dare you); mowing down on dessert; our dessert platter... 1 of everything pleaseandthankyou; vegan chicken fingers and mucho dipping sauce; taping off crafts; painting; dish design.
thursday: i was lucky, and got to see some university friends - my good friend costain was visiting from vancouver, so 4 of us got together, had some drinks, and chatted about life, education, values, and all the things we wanted to. it was a good night.
friday: after work, i was supposed to go to the gym (according to my inner trainer). however, it was a rough day. a long day. a trying day. so, instead, i joined some coworker friends for drinks downtown, after staying late. we sat around, they ate, and we drank some wine, and chatted about life, sports, and all things we can't talk about at work. jeff joined us when his GO train arrived, donning flowers for me (i'm a lucky girl). once all was said and done, jeff and i packed up, and we went back to my place, made poutine, hung out, watched tv episodes, and conked early - we could both barely keep our eyes open from the week we had both had.
saturday: woke up late (ish), and wandered to the gap, as it was friends and family weekend. however, since i am a crowd hater, not a lover, upon seeing the 2 hour long line up to pay, we browsed real quick like, and then were out of there as fast as the kids were running around the store (unsupervised, might i add). we then made something to eat quickly, and headed downtown to meet darcy (my sister) and friends cole and abby. darcy was home from the east coast (where she goes to school), and she made the early trip to toronto for extra long hangouts. we met her on university ave, and then scooted over to TIFF lightbox, where we were meeting Cole and Abby to see the bond exhibit at the bell lightbox. while waiting for our admission time, we got wind of a bonus x-men special effects exhibit upstairs... which was worth charging admission for as well (it's FREE!! go see it!!). we then got into line, and made our way through the exhibit for bond. both were fantastic... then the 5 of us headed over to town crier pub, where we stopped for a beer each, some snacks, and then darce, jeff and i headed back to my place where we were meeting my parents and other sister. perfect timing, as all 6 of us arrived nearly simultaneously. we put all of their overnight stuff in my place as everyone was staying the night, and we headed out to pizzeria libretto - a much awaited (2 month planned) birthday celebration. we put our name on the list, and headed over for some appetizers and drinks at lakeview. then, when PL called, we wandered back over, and all crammed in a booth. apparently i'm used to living in toronto, as i had no problem with the tight quarters, even though everyone else seemed to think it would be a problem. we spent the rest of the night with lovely service staff, great wine, a sampling of cocktails, some beer, great company - including spectacular photo taking stunts from gary and visits from other staff - and a final dessert platter to top things off. they are fabulous. then, the 6 of us wandered down to 1602, for some scotch and drinks and to say hi - and bumped into the lovely erin and nicole on the way! it was a late night, so by the end of 1 round at 1602, everyone was exhausted, so we headed home, and crashed on the various sleeping areas available. (deep breath! saturday was exhausting).
sunday: wasn't able to sleep in, as I had been granted access to the guest room upstairs, so after a quick chat with landlord pat, mosied downstairs to make some breakfast. had a bit of a nap, watched some dexter, ate some snacks, and then went for a long walk along queen street, dundas and ossington. love my neighbourhood. the weather was perfect, and everyone was out and about. then, had some vietnamese for dinner while watching movie trailers (yes, it was THAT exciting of a sunday). dropped jeff off at the GO station to head home, and i spent the remainder of the night crafting (without getting into too much detail, as some things are gifts), watching mad men (it's what i do), and finishing off some projects that had been sitting in wait for awhile.
hope everyone had a relaxing and perfect fall weekend... and that everyone took some time on Sunday to remember and acknowledge those who fought, and continue to fight, for our freedom.
