toast is killing me softly

Toast never fails to impress me – with their clothes, their home outfittings (which I droll over, and attempt daily to recreate in my apartment), and their new (ish) men’s line.
I just received my autumn, house and home, and mens wear catalogues from toast. And again, they are killing me softly. I usually blog, simply to tell you all to order the catalogue, but I must show some of my favourites. Toast nailed my aesthetic this season. Nailed. It. And denver and I were drooling over their shoots this season in the catalogues.
Things-i-want-but-will-most-likely-never-have-ever:
the fair isle twisted wrap, the ravan dress AND the ravan skirt, the knee high boot, the suede ballet pumps, the cable knit long socks, the annis necklace (because we all know how much i love sequins), this INCREDIBLE hooded sweater, the astrid sweater, the iPad case, these droolworthy moccasins, these lovely and comfy looking churidars, this accented marjan top (love the cinching)... i could go on, and on.
i also want to bring your attention to the newest section of the toast website... the 'toast travels' portion. if i ever wanted to travel before... it's been exacerbated by this website alone.
and just... to enjoy the photography.
all from their catalogues... order them here.
Check out the Early autumn catalogue here; the autumn catalogue here; and the winter catalogue here.and… if you find more time…
the men’s wear here; and the house and home here.
they're all SO worth it.

'i want to believe in more than you and me'

just in love with ingrid michaelson. my friend steph sent me this song, as we've both been working through some stuff lately.... and when this song came on, she sent me a message: "So as this year comes to an end - what a year and a bit it has been for you. I have noticed your twitter pictures and blogs pertaining to getting through the year...laughing through the year etc. This song just came on my itunes and I think it fits perfectly...if you don't know it listen to it all the way through...the round is so beautiful but its true....all you can do is keep breathing. Have a lovely day"
i have a great friend in steph. and literally, all we can do is keep breathing.
The storm is coming but i don't mind | People are dying, i close my blinds | All that i know is i'm breathing now | I want to change the world...instead i sleep | I want to believe in more than you and me | But all that i know is i'm breathing | All i can do is keep breathing | All we can do is keep breathing now | All that i know is i'm breathing | All i can do is keep breathing | All we can do is keep breathing now | All we can do is keep breathing | All we can do is keep breathing | All we can do is keep breathing | All we can do is keep breathing | All we can do is keep breathing now
then. there's this. this incredible song has made it's rounds, and she did a perfect version with greg laswell. and then it got amazing publicity when it was in the trailer for 'like, crazy'. this song.... it's just perfect. perfect. perfect. because it's true. we can't help falling in love. even when we want to. we (and by we, i mean, i) fight against it as hard as physically possible.... and it only works when it's not love.
Wise men say only fools rush in | but I can't help falling in love with you | Shall I stay | would it be a sin | If I can't help falling in love with you | Like a river flows surely to the sea | Darling so it goes | some things are meant to be | take my hand, take my whole life too | for I can't help falling in love with you | Like a river flows surely to the sea | Darling so it goes | some things are meant to be | take my hand, take my whole life too | for I can't help falling in love with you | for I can't help falling in love with you
please love her like i love her. please.

my (crafty) weekend in summary

This weekend was supposed to be about relaxation and catching up on sleep – instead, I had a lot of fun. That’s ok.

some sort of rapping version of sing star or rock band - whatever it is, i got to rap ludacris in front of a whole party, and got huge props when i knew all the words without looking at the screen. so. good.; charm blowing out her candle (?)' the incredible cake, from friend; the lovely birthday girl and her possibly more lovely significant other, jon (best. male. style. ever.); saturday is craft day with landlord/friend erin... sewing and dying supplies; the fabric massacre.
Friday: my intent was to meet up with my friend charm for her bday (which seems to be an annual event) and go to her place, and leave when they headed to the bar. Instead, I was convinced to go to the bar with them. So I drove, and parked at work, again, with the intent of staying until maybe 1, and then cabbing home. again, this plan was ineffective – I was out until 5:30 at an afterhours bar with friends. Exhausting. Had a blast dancing, and enjoying the company of charm and her lovely friends. So nice. (happy birthday charm!! To another year of friendship)
Saturday: woke up uber late (after my late night/early morning) and then made a quick trip to the organic store for supplies (this to me, means coconut water, vegan jerky, and rice chips with salsa – this is my ‘day after the bar/late night’ food). Then, erin (my landlord) and I spent the rest of the day dying fabric, creating designs for knock off longchamp bags, and scarves galore… my most favourite was the circle scarf design with the light weight canvas material (going to be SO nice once the dye has been washed out – I’m so excited). We talked (a lot), and drank wine, and ate food, and talked more. It was awesome. We will continue this tradition 100%. Man I love making.
Sunday: woke up late, again, and spent the day doing things with friends – a walk through high park in the awesome weather, and a great dinner of jerk tofu, with red beans and rice – which, by the way, everyone should make, and eat. It was, in all, a great day. Got to bed too late again, but worth it.
Hope everyone enjoyed the amazing weekend – and for all those not in Toronto or southern Ontario, hope you’re getting unseasonably warm weather like us
