my weekend in summary

this weekend was a whirlwind... and yet, i somehow managed to fit a TON into it. great!
lip gloss and beer at the lakeview; monotonous packing for my mini road trip; the best find of the whole weekend - NBA all star gummy vitamins. with trading cards!!; one of the many... and a wine that i was surprised by; our ride home - in the snow; my hosts gift to us, to say thank you for coming.
Friday: I wasn't feeling well (oh the life of a person with no immune system), so unfortunately my plans to go to my friend missy's dance show were ruined. I went home from work, and slept for 3 hrs, until 9pm. I then pulled myself together, and met up with denver, for his birthday. We went to holy oak on bloor, for a couple of drinks, and then - since nowhere else was serving food - headed to the lakeview, as I can always count on it to be open late (or, always), and have food all the time. We got food, and beer, and talked all night. Finally walked home, and got to bed late.
Saturday: woke up, laid in bed for awhile reading, and just laying. Knew my friend would be coming around 2:30 to pick me up, so tried to get as much stuff done as possible - a HUGE grocery shop, returning some stuff, dropping of recycling, bottles, and all those things that you can never find the time to do. Made a huge lunch to bring with me, and then set off - when helen showed up - for kingston. If all I managed was the drive, it was awesome. When you find someone you can travel with, it makes travelling the best thing in the world. unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your idea of fun, we got stuck behind salt trucks - twice - and ended up taking almost 4.5 hrs to arrive. Nevertheless, we took our time, and talked the whole way. When we finally arrived, jess was ready for us, with cut up fruit, pitas and dip, and gifts. GIFTS! we talked and talked, went for dinner, talked and talked, went back to jess' place, talked and talked, and drank some wine. I wish I could say something exciting, like we took an adventure, but when you haven't seen people for years, and you have lots of catching up to do, talking is enough. I then found out my family friend was down the street, a block away, so I offered it to the ladies (who were too exhausted), and went out to meet him and his friends. We just sat at the bar and chatted, had some beer, and caught up. It's so nice when after so long (I'm talking 8-10 years long) you can just sit down with someone, and hit the ground running. We got food, and then he walked me back to jess' place for the night. they were still up, so we chatted more, and then went to sleep.
Sunday: after a not long enough sleep, we woke up, and jess made us some tea, and we chatted over tea - some more. I then met my family friends for brunch, and jess and helen ventured out on their own. Met up at a nice classic breakfast place with george and mavis (george was my gr 2 teacher), and caught up. Got the scoop on 2 new babies in the family (one just born, one about a month away), some health updates, and news about their recent trip down to latin america. They are 2 of my favourite people, so I was glad I got to connect with them. After brunch, gave our hugs and said our goodbyes, and met back up with helen and jess. We did our shopping rounds of the bookstore, lululemon, the outdoor store, and david's tea (that's pretty much us in a nutshell), and did more talking then shopping. We finally took off around 4 ish, and planned our long drive home. Fortunately, only took about 3 hrs, though I remember saying, 'I wish it took longer, this drive has been fun!' We had our own version of a mopey sad, university nostalgia feel-sorry-for-ourselves fest, and then a dance party with old songs from university times. Helen then dropped me off, and I spent the rest of the night making lunches for the week, and watching breaking bad - my new addiction.
Obviously, a perfect weekend. I have such good friends. and, with that, i'll leave you with a mashup of our dance party favourites....
Hope everyone else had a great couple days as well!
