My desire to splurge (without the funds to do so) on a really nice camera, was further encouraged when my lovely friends bri (from guest posts) and nate, lent me their camera for a week, while I experimented with Alex on some shoots, and did some photography for re:claim and thackeray’s vanity. Since then, I’ve been itching… I love having my face close to a camera, and getting right into the face (or front?) of inanimate objects. I love control, and having complete control over the focus on a small piece of jewelry, or the way that you photograph a tree, and a slight turn of the hand, or small motion to the left that brings that tree slightly out of focus.
And then, with all the blogs I pour over daily, I’ve felt so inspired by the images that people have been producing – especially lately. There seems to be a movement towards the antiqued or vintage aesthetic, that certainly isn’t a new one, but has definitely permeated most of the photography I am seeing. I am surrounded by inspiration – I have friends who are beyond creative; I have access to wonderfully creative people on the internet; I live in a city with a million things to see, and document.
I’m so inspired by the photography I have been seeking out lately, and it’s been a scratch to my itch. Maybe bad, maybe good – either way, I need to get my hands on a camera, possible some film and a 35 mm old camera, and some great locations. And then I can start shooting everything I see.
just a few photos that have caught me lately... filly has been killing it with their collection and product shots, and some incredible photos of this couple who eloped, from Jill Thomas (via 100 layer cake).
what inspires you?
