my weekend in summary

Learning that blues all look the same to most people; the jays game – great seats!; Chrissy and I pre boston men attack; festive nails and a TTC ride; dancing so hard my BB camera can’t keep up; wildflower boquets at my parents new place; the mini island tree stump that I discovered (man I love that place); my gma and her siblings at the family picnic; me learning where my love of navy blue and stripes comes from; the birthplace of my competitive nature – my parents commanding prizes for the balloon toss that they won (against 4 yr olds); watercolour experiments.
Thursday: Thursday we headed from work straight to jack astors downtown to celebrate the retirement of a coworker. Just a few drinks, some food, and some good conversation. I always love engaging with coworkers outside of work, because I get to see what they are like socially…. I think there is a tendency of the older generation to be a little less personal at work, and since I work with so many older people, it’s so nice to see them outside of their work environment. I hitched a ride home with my friend dave, and was in bed by 9:30. I sat in bed, reading and writing and listening to music, but still nice to get into bed so early.
Friday: I was handed last minute tickets to the blue jays/red sox game on Friday, behind the plate, by a coworker who I have talked baseball with before. He just knew I loved them, and wanted me to have them. I went with a friend from work, and we thoroughly enjoyed the red sox win (since I’m a boston fan, through and through). We then went as fast as we could to the nearest bar to watch the canucks beat the bruins (which was bitter sweet for me). We made a ton of Bostonian friends, and the old men were in awe of these 2 small young girls, both exceeding their collective sports knowledge. It definitely added to our enjoyment, as they were more than willing to buy beer for the “two sports chicks”. We spent some time there after the game, and then proceeded to the ballroom, where another friend was. We hung out, chatted, and when the bar closed, we all went for Chinese food. I was then coerced into going to the ‘after party’ (aka. Hanging out at my friend’s place), where we all passed out far too late.
Saturday: woke up and headed home, and managed to sleep into the afternoon. Didn’t do much in the afternoon/evening, but headed to the east end for a retirement/60th bday party for the same coworker from Thursday evening. Tons of dancing, a band, drinks, a lot of fun. Didn’t get home until about 2am, but DID get a ride home (not on TTC!
Sunday: woke up really early, and took the subway (who knew it didn’t run until 9am on Sundays??) to meet my parents, and cousin (with her bf) to drive out to the family picnic. Had a good day, though the travelling was a lot for my back. Tons of food, nice to see relatives, but didn’t get home until almost 10. Then did some watercolour, and went to bad later than I hoped.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
