as i said, i had a friend visiting from out of town. so it was a good/full weekend...
Thursday: I drove home (to my parents) right after work, because I had a doctor’s appt with my family physician about my car accident. She checked me over, basically corroborated what my chiro had assessed, and said she would support me in whatever I needed – she thought I should take some time off, but if mentally staying at work was better, then so be it. Once done, I went home to my parents, and hung out with my sister and her friend. My sister just arrived back home/in Ontario from her first year in uni, so it was nice to get to hang out with her again. We watched ‘the switch’ and went to the grocery store – her and her friend got baking supplies, I got my drugs. Had dinner with my parents (first time I had eaten since the accident/resulting shock), and then made tie dye cake with glass mason jars. I drove home that night, as I had to work Friday.
Friday: off to work, knowing that my friend would be there when I arrived home. I got home in time for my friend’s arrival – with vegan cupcakes from OMG. we went grocery shopping for the visit (and anticipated meals), and then just spent the night hanging out. Made some dinner, watched some movies, and since we were both pretty exhausted, ended up in bed pretty early.
Saturday: didn’t do much, but enjoyed the sun outside. ventured to pick up my completed income taxes, pay the government a portion of what i owe them, and then checked out (for the first time) the shops at don mills... and more importantly, anthropologie. did manage to meet up with a couple of my cousins and one of their friends, and enjoy some glutton free vegan homemade pizza... and good conversation. as always.

Sunday: we headed out on the rainy yucky day, and went to la merceria for americanos, and then urban outfitters for some hipster shopping (their sales are amazing, but after finding out I owe almost $4,000 in back taxes, I had to return everything I bought. Shopping guilt). The only other thing I wanted to do all day was watch the Celtics/Miami basketball game, so we went to sneaky dees for $4 grolsch, vegan all day breakfast, and to watch the Celtics lose a cheap game to the heat.
Note: referees need to stop babying NBA all stars, and let players just play the game. If the Celtics are robbed of this series, on reffing and only reffing, they should lodge a formal complaint. And if the next games go anything like the last 2 (Sunday and last night’s)… then something needs to happen.
We then came home, made some baked spaghetti, and a cake deluxe, and watched winning time and million dollar baby.
the cake baking process. neon food colouring, sprinkles, marbled. heaven. |
Monday: since my friend was going home on the Tuesday, it was our last full day. I got home from work to homemade chili, and we read sports highlights, election coverage, and the sopranos. Big night in Canada – election night. With (for me) a bittersweet outcome.
Hope everyone else had a fantastic weekend…. Despite the bittersweet election results, and the bittersweet weather. This calls for… the verve.
