ok, ok. i was called out by a friend for being so late on this weekend in summary, but with good reason!!
friday: i spent the day with a friend from work, and her little munchkin... for some lunch and good conversation. i then drove back home to toronto, and met up with a few girls from work for a drink. it's nice to still be able to meet up with them, and chat like life is normal. then i ran home to meet up with my counterpart - jamie p. we hung out for a bit, and she helped me with some back stuff, as she is doing her OT degree. she helped me with some sleeping positions, and pain management. we then met up with denver for a drink up at bloor and bathurst - near honest eds - and came home to my FREEZING cold apt. we were out cold.
saturday: jamie woke up early and left to work on school work... and i slept longer. woke up to do some cleaning, and make some jewelry for a charity auction that my cousin's gf is helping with... and then got a text from cole to see if i wanted to go for brunch. we had a great brunch at nirvana and a good catch up. he hadn't seen me avec cane yet, so we needed a good solid catch up! dropped cole off, and then went home to finish up the jewelry. watched 'american beauty' while i finished some jewelry. then, my friend let me know that the team he coaches was playing in etobicoke, and since i was on my way to another friend's in oakville, thought that i would stop by. the weather - and therefore driving - was horrendous. i didn't end up getting to see the game, as by the time i would have arrived, the game would have been over. i ended up at my friend's place, watching movies, and being very very happy that i was not driving anywhere.
sunday: woke up at my friend's and the snow was clear... so headed home in time to gather my stuff to head out to cobourg for my friend's superbowl party. arrived just in time to pick up some salads and head over to the party.... and watch GB win! ended up staying at my friend's place again that night.
BUT
the weekend was not over...
when i woke up monday... i saw 3 missed calls - and 3 emails.
my lovely friend chantel - who i have been friends with since grade 3, and acted as her maid of honour - gave birth to her little dumpling early monday morning Feb 7th... which also happened to be my little baby sister's 19th bday. my phone had been on standby (ringtone: loud), so i could get to the hospital, but tehcnical difficulties did not allow it.
I am proud to present my little 'niece' - G. M. Alexandra (named after my middle name) A. (so as to not share a small baby's full name on the internet). She's beautiful, perfect, wonderful, and the apple of my eye.
I have spent the past few days fawning over her... and therefore have been super busy. coincidently, my back has been a bit better this week.... and i'm truly learning how much positive situations can help me out mentally.
