my lfie is better when i get toast in the mail.
this month - toast for men, and house and home.
and wouldn't you know - when i open the house and home to swoon over it's vegtable-dye-smelling pages, i zone in on the wool blankets. i have a problem - i've accepted it - and i'm not yet willing to move on.
lo and behold (yes - i use 80 year old expressions as well), MacAusland's Blankets - from PEI.
so I figure - wouldn't they be cheaper if I just bought them from PEI?
turns out, I'm smarter than I think.

MacAusland's is a family owned and operated business beginning as a sawmill and rollmill in 1870. In 1902, the company began producing woolen yarn and in 1932 they began producing woollen blankets. founded by archibald MacAusland, operations were taken over by his son fred, whose son's eddie and reg then inherited operations. they handed it down to their sons, harry and allan. harry's son - dale - and allan still run the mill today, making it a fourth generation family business.
the mill has existed with few changes throughout the decades it has been in business. due to a fire in 1949, they lost all but one piece of equipment - an extractor made of cast iron and a copper basket. then, in 1973, the entire mill converted from water turbines and diesel to electric motors to run the machines. the mill still uses old fashioned machinery to produce a top quality product woven with old fashioned charm.
located in the western part of Prince Edward Island, they operate the only mill in Atlantic Canada producing quality, 100% pure virgin wool blankets.
prices above. check them out. i'm buying one today. orrr... maybe in a bit, once i save some money.
