I've determined that when people say that 'you'll know' they mean it. And because of that, I can trust that if that guy doesn't like me, it's ok… because I'll just know.
Not to throw my heart to fate, but to trust that whatever will be, will be. I will be with a man who I find strikingly handsome and who makes me laugh. A man who likes adventure and good food. A man who loves reading, sports, and politics. A man who dresses well, wears good shoes and looks just as good 3 months after a shave or haircut as he does the next day.
And when that man comes, I will not shudder at the word 'relationship'. I will not dread the 'marriage' talk. I will not want to pick up and move all over the world to escape my problems.
So for now - I just have to trust.
and until then... remember not to settle.
"being married doesn't mean you're less alone. I think a relationship can be the most intense form of being alone if you're not careful… friendship is what really resolves and mitigates lonliness while not compromising the self in the way that love does, romantic love does." - andrew sullivan in stranger than fiction
