my weekend in summary

The summers are so short, we have to fit as much in as possible… leaving pure exhaustion as a sediment.
Friday: I was meant to head down on Friday night to Alex and Thomas' in Kincardine, but through a mix up with directions, I ended up staying in toronto on Friday night. I spent the evening with a girl from work, and one of her friends. We ate food, talked about boys, and watched trashy television. I headed home at about 11:30, and was in bed nice and 'early' (for a weekend).
Saturday: woke up at about 10:00, and prepared to head out. I went for a quick run, showered, and packed my stuff for Kincardine. The drive was great - though it rained, I had the tunes playing (the mamas and the papas, a little 500 days of summer soundtrack, and some beenie man. I have eclectic taste), had a cold drink, and made it in about 2.5 hours. Met Thomas and Alex in town, so they could drive me back to their place… and I was quickly introduced to the heavenly oasis they call home. We chatted a bit with Thomas, before he headed out to his grandparents farm to do some errands. We then hung out, talked a bit, and hopped in the car to drive into town. We went over to Thomas and Alex's friend's place, and had a couple of drinks, chatted, and spent some time reminscing. I had never met these friends before - despite the long time connection between them and Alex/Thomas - and it was nice to finally be able to make the connection. Alex and I headed back to their place, and went down and sat by the lake… they have a stone beach and it's BEAUTIFUL to just sit and watch the water roll over the rocks. After an hour or so of chatting, we went up to their place and made some dinner. A huge salad with nuts, chick peas, tempeh, and beautiful lettuce from their garden. So. Good. We sat on their patio with a view of the lake, and ate amazing food. Had some drinks, and talked all night long. We attempted a fire, but with all the rain, it was near impossible. Nevertheless, we entertained ourselves with conversation. Went to bed around 1:00.
sunset on saturday eve; tempeh, chickpeas, broccoli salad (so so good); a long conversation with a good friend
Sunday: Woke up at about 11:30 in my wonderful guest room that Alex had made extremely toasty...
Had some tea, and alex and I went for a walk through the beach and forest surrounding their place. By the time we returned, Thomas was back, and we all sat, talked, ate leftovers for brunch, and enjoyed the finally sunny day. Alex and I then headed in the direction of an antique store she wanted me to see, where I picked up the most sexist old ad I could find. we then drove back into kincardine, and walked along the 'main strip' - and ate some ice cream. once we returned to their place, it was time to leave... so i packed up, and headed back to toronto. upon my return, i unpacked, washed some dishes, and then hung out with a friend for the evening.
candlelit dinner; stone beach in the sun; drive past the sand beach on sunday
busy weekend... but i am thankful for wonderful friends.
"No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other's worth."
