This week was a weird one… since it was Canada Day on Thursday, I felt like it was a loooooong weekend. So let's take it all in...
Wednesday night: first went to a friend's place from work, who was having a few people over. In their apt. building they have a room that they can 'ren't (for free) to have parties… so she had booked the space, and had about 10 people over. The weird thing about 'work friends' is that you can either really get along well outside of work, or not have anything to talk about… I'm lucky that I have some work friends who I legitimately have things in common with. There were three of them who were there, and while I was a little skeptical of how the night would go, I found myself wishing I didn't have to leave! It was also nice to meet their respective partners - you hear so much about them, that I feel like I know them… though it was weird for one of the first times in my life, being the one without the partner there. Very interesting perspective - though it didn't dawn on me until later….. So I must be ok with it.
I then walked for about 45 minutes to the bar C-Lounge, to meet up with some university friends. Though only three of them made it, we danced hard to some old school music… and my friend's little brother was there! It's a weird feeling seeing the little kids who you grew up with, being real people. My sisters are another thing altogether, but siblings of friends are the kinds of people who if you had never met, you might think they were normal. He's a good guy though, and it was fun to be able to hang out with him in a normal setting. We left the bar when the lights went on (or was it when one of the girls could barely walk straight? I can't recall), and walked up to spadina and queen to grab street meat, and grab a cab. Because the rest of the girls were going north east, and I was going west, I walked home. I later realized it took me almost 2 hours to get home… so I assume that I took my sweet time. I stopped at 7-11 to get some snacks along the way - smart jamie! When I got home, I washed my horribly bloody toe (from being stomped on at the bar - blood ALL over my birks), and went to sleep.
Thursday (Canada Day!): woke up late, feeling wonderful. Spent the day outside for the most part - went to a tour of the steam whistle brewery which was fantastic. I had never been, but knew they were a great brewery. Managed to somehow get in free too. Great news. Then walked back up to Chinatown, to get fruit for Sangria (for later that weekend) - 10 limes for $1!! Anyone who does not shop in Chinatown is crazy. Got to bed fairly early, as I had to work on Friday.
Friday - really quiet day at work. Since I was in a Nyquil coma, I slept in, and ended up getting to work late. Luckily, with the amount of hours I work, it wasn't horrible - I had probably worked 36 hours by Wednesday, so I wasn't in too much trouble. Went after work to pick up my new tv (yay!) and set it all up. My friend alex has recently moved to kincardine with her lovely husband thomas, and they were down for the weekend. Needless to say, our typical fresh date was on… with me ordering the ceaser salad, and her getting the protien salad. Between the fresh, and the wonderful conversation, we managed to consume and entire bottle of stoli between the two of us. And then things got a little rowdy. Thomas arrived, which was lovely, as I wanted to hear all about his experiences at the new wind farm job… I truly miss those two! I didn't want them to leave, but it was certainly time for bed when they departed.

Saturday: woke up late. Not just because of the late night I had, but because I have been battling a cold/flu, I slept until 3pm. Crazy. Woke up, and got outside ASAP. Walked to the health food store and the bakery that I just found out has vegan cupcakes! Both SUPER close to my place… picked up some stuff for the bbq. Walked around, and then just hung out outside all day. Read, watered the plants for the landlord. It was marvelous.
A friend came over, and we bbq'd, and hung out outside for the remainder of the sun… it was a great night.
Sunday: woke up, and had made plans to have brunch with the old roommates, emma and alicia. Ventured out with breakfast food to alicia's dad's place… this meant that my afternoon consisted of a pool, sun, and food. It was wonderful. I miss hanging out with those girls in that capacity. Alicia so kindly drove me to the subway, where I ventured back home. Stopped to pick up a housewarming gift for a friend who is moving in on Tuesday - guys are HARD to buy housewarming gifts for! - and then got home in time to make some good dinner, enjoy the rest of the sun, and clean up around my apt. watched some Scrubs, and cleaned after my feast from the night before… and went to bed fairly early.
I can't wait to see the sandlot on the big screen. My sister is coming up, and we clearly are the same person - her first comment on my new tv was "I am bringing the sandlot!"… from the same blood.
