my weekend in summary

Whyyyyyyy do I always wake up tired on mondays, when the weekend is supposed to be relaxing?

Friday: Friday I ended up at work until about 7. I walked home - because I CAN - and hung out there until the show i was planning to see that night.
*side note* I have had a few minor issues at my new place - seriously minor. My roof leaked, and was fixed within days; my shower door came off it's rail, and it didn't faze me one bit; etc. Anyways, my landlords have been WONDERFUL, and so apologetic about all these things. I came home Friday to a gift bag hanging on my door - in it was a note to say thank you for my patience while they make their way through their growing pains - and JOE clothes!!! I officially have the best landlords ever.
I finally headed out to the Mark Feldman band show at the drake - which was awesome! Hung out with a few friends, and had a few drinks. Stopped at poutinis for some goods , and then went back into Drake for a little dancey dancey to a dj - NEVER FORGIVE ACTION W/ NUMERIC + DALIA. Amazing old school hi hop - ODB and LL cool J were included. Amazing. Went home, to bed. Fell fast asleep - fast.

Saturday: Woke up late (12 ish) and gave my cousin a call for some lunch. She happened to be super close, and craving Sushi, so we went to Mazz sushi - not before i was stopped by a portuguese parade, complete with ronaldo jerseys. i was pissed until i realized it was for sports... then i teared up. i'm an idiot. the restaurant was new for both of us, but good! tons and TONS of food. We both left stuffed. We went for a walk, and walked back to my new place so she could inspect, and fall in love the way I did. Since she's getting married (December) and moving (August) soon, we talked about that too… I'm lucky enough to the making the jewelry for her wedding party, and we talked about doing huge dangly blue and silver earrings for them, since they're all wearing their hair down. So. Exciting. I love having a cousin that's bold!
*spoiler!* she's wearing bright blue (and I mean bright bright blue) Manolo Blahnik style shoes under her wedding dress. So. Awesome.
after we met with Mike (her fiance), and I left them, i went to BMV, and spent (yet again) way too much money on books. picked up: 'snuff'; 'rant: an oral biography of buster casey'; 'naked lunch'; 'a clockwork orange'; 'running with scissors'; 'a portrait of the artist as a young man'; (and some other things that escape me currently)... i sat and read a bit on a sunny bench, and then went home to change, and get ready to go out with alex later that night.
i was hoping to meet up with jake and josh - my friends from university - but just because of where they were, where i was, and timing, we ended up missing eachother. sad.
once alex was done hanging out with her cousin, i met her at the gladstone, and we walked up to my place. she ooed and awed at it, and then i changed, and we headed out to get something to eat. our hearts were set on fresh, but by the time we walked there, it was closed! (note: get to fresh before 10 pm!!). we walked up and down, and ended up at rhino. despite a horrible waitress, and some flagrant false name giving out, we had a really good time! lots of good conversation, good beer, decent food (apparently no one serves real food after 10pm - only appitizers), and hilarious interactions with randoms at the bar. because it was pouring when we left, we took a cab - and thank GOODNESS i had an umbrella!! Didn't get home until 3:30 ish, and it was worth it.
sunday: woke up around 11:45 ish to meet a friend and his mom for breakfast at sadies (yes - i legtimately have a problem... i eat there too often). i had tofu scramble, and the chocolate banana peanut butter smoothie - of course. felt sick. ate too much. so good. ahhhh... took the streetcar home, and read my 'stranger than fiction' book from cole. i intended on getting home to waterdown, to visit the parents, and see my sister, early - but instead ended up half sleeping... so. exhausted. and unpacking too! i took off and got stuck in traffic. therefore, got to waterdown in time to simply load my car with stuff, and then take off to alice fazoolis. it's a fav of my families, simply because it's halfway for me to meet them, it's fairly nice, and we can meet halfway for nice family type dinners. Since my sister had her grad this week (CONGRATS K!!), we were celebrating. plus - my cousin lara was visiting, and she got to join in on the (so-called) 'fun'.
*I looked up something on 'lara shea' to add, because she's a wonderful artist, etc. and this is what i found. hilarious.
we ate a lot of food, and laughed, and talked. i have been in a grumpy mood because of lack of sleep, and my stupid exam that i failed (ugh). i was rude. most probably. i can't wait to be myself again.
anyways! lovely time, and i got home around 10... and proceeded to attempt to carry various things back on the streetcar - as I am 'storing' my car at work. note: arms hurt when you overload yourself. do not try at home.
unpacked a bit more, read blogs, then when realizing it was after 12am, thought that i should go to bed. i'm an idiot with no impulse control.
next week i'm in winnipeg for a work conference - so i'll have TONS to share upon my return! ha!
until then - i'm going to leave you with an installation from my other cousin (since this seems to be a cousin saturated blog entry!). Melis - lara's sister - is an architecture who has travelled all over the place... and she's AWESOME at what she does. check her work out! (and i kind of stumbled upon this by accident, so it's new and exciting for me too!!)
