my weekend in summary

Sorry for the delay. As it's Wednesday, and the next weekend is almost upon us, this is coming extremely late.
Thursday: my weekend began a bit early, as I had Friday off in light of the G20 chaos. My office is right downtown, and we are pretty central to the events going on. As a result, Thursday night was like a bonus party! I hung out with emma, and some other girls. We drank sangria, talked about boys, and sang along to old disney songs on youtube. It was wonderful. I didn't get home until late, but it was ok.
Friday: since the G20 had embedded itself in toronto, I wanted to get far away in the first day. I spent the day cleaning, organizing, throwing out garbage, etc. later in the day, I drove home to my parents, and hung out with my sister. Not before buying my very first DVD player, and about 8 dvds… including: rudy; karate kid; shawshank redemption (which was a replacement); legend of beggar vance; wayne's world; 500 days of summer; where the wild things are; and a couple more. When I arrived home, my sister and I made a vase (or as my mom called it, an 'apothocary jar') full of sangria - which her two friends and us proceeded to drink out of with homemade long straws. Best. Night. Ever.
Saturday: woke up sort of late, and had to be in toronto for 6 or 7… so I made a trip to value village with my parents. Good clean family fun. My dad wanted me to make an 'immunity necklace' for his baseball team (something about buying cases of beer per strikeout - I don't really follow), so he dragged me in to find good materials. Stopped off to get some mouse traps (yes - mice. Sucky), and other house stuff. I'm turning into a real grown up these days! Came back to Toronto, and went downtown, to be a part of the protests. I have a bit of a history with protests, and was frustrated with the pedestrians who were the ones really causing a stir. What I experienced on Saturday night was an extremely calm, collected, and well mannered police force, as well as extremely calm, collected and well-mannered protestors/demonstrators. And then there were the others. People shouting in the faces of officers, throwing things, getting their photos taken. It was a horrible thing to experience. I'm glad I went - it reminded me that this world is filled with people whose only passion is to be swept in the latest news, without any knowledge or opinion of what that news actually means.
Got home not too late, though a little wet from the rain, and went to bed.
Sunday: worst day of the weekend. Not because of any particular thing, as I was extremely productive. I got a ton of things out of my apartment that I've been meaning to get out for a while - boxes from unpacking, clothes donated, things brought to the shelter, etc. It felt amazing to get everything cleaned out. However, I was amped to set up my dvd player to watch 500 days of summer… hooked everything up, only to find that the sound on my tv had blown. I have been anticipating making a big TV purchase for quite some time… I just was hoping it would wait until boxing day. Needless to say on Monday, I dropped a lot of money at future shop on this little beauty…
Can't WAIT for the weekend. I pick the tv up Friday night, and goodness knows I'll be spending most of the weekend in my apartment watching borrowed movies.
Nope - sorry… I can't hang out. I have a 42" screen tv to watch.
Now all I need is a couch.
