One of two books that I read while on vacation… and while I may seem like a sick twisted individual (and…. sort of am one), these are the books and themes that relax, and entertain me.
As per wiki…
"A satire of commercial culture, it is the story of Tender Branson, a member of the Creedish Church, a death cult. The chapters and pages are numbered backwards in the book, beginning with Chapter 47 on page 289 and ending with page 1 of Chapter 1."
Apparently the film rights for this book were sold, but no studio would make the film… mostly due to the plan hijacking throughout the novel. However, rumour is that director Francis Lawrence (director of the 2007 film I Am Legend) has shown interest in adapting it. Fingers crossed.
I usually write a bit about how I'm feeling… but this book managed to write that for me. So instead, I'll just leave it at that - quotes from the book that made me think/feel something bigger than myself.
" today is just one of those days the sun comes out to really humiliate you"
"'here's another symbol' she says, still crouching & looking up at me. 'these flowers will be rotton in a couple of hours. Birds will crap on them. The smoke here will make them stink and tomorrow a bulldozer will probably run over them, but for right now, they are so beautiful'"
