i hate house hunting.
this weekend was filled with apartment showings... and fun. mutually exclusive, mind you.
friday: since i'm jockying my car around with my while i sleep on people's couches, i went from work to my friend alex's apt. she has been allowing me to stay at her place a bit, while also parking my car. wonderful. i then drove to her cousin nick's place to leave my car, and then bussed downtown to meet my friend cole for dinner. we always meet at queen sushi, and tonight was like all other nights... i was just worried i wasn't going to get dinner in before the show. since cole is friends with matthew de zoete, and i adore his music, i was 100% in for matt's show on friday. i was even more pleasantly surprised to find that matt was opening for peter katz who is a favourite of mine! it was peter's cd release party, for his new cd first of the last to know. i can honestly say it's amazing - i bought peter's new album, as well as matt's. feel free to listen and buy here:

cole and i then had grand plans to bar hop the whole way home... needless to say, we're older than we thought... and we went to souz dal for a couple of martinis/coke and ryes. talked about our usual topics of conversation. then headed home... cole has a dirty cab habit, so we cabbed. ugh. we spent the rest of the night showing eachother websites, and eating dominos pizza at his 43" screen tv/computer. i have total computer envy, and now i'm saving. since he's such a good friend, he let me stay on his futon. thank. goodness.
i then drove home to my parents, to relax a bit, and reload my suitcase for the next week. ended up sitting outside with my parents and next door neighbours, drinking wine, smoking cigars, and talking about life. i also bought a vaccuum at the burlington restore (i'm SO nerdy... and love my vaccuum! it's the same one as my friend elizabeth has... and it's amazing).
headed back to toronto later, to meet up with alex and thomas, move my car, pick up some stuff, and head over to emma's place, where i was hanging out for the night. i arrived at 11:30 to emma, atmos, and ginn - all drinking. instead, i drank water to nurse my omnimous sore throat. ginn and i ended up looking at eachother at about 2:00 am, feeling like parents. it was wonderful. lots of episodes of 'community' later, and i was exhausted.

saturday: woke up, puttered around cole's before heading off to an apt. showing at dundas and dupont. yet another weirdo place. there was a rub and tug nearby... always reassuring. denver and daniel and i split ways - they were off to look at 2 bedrooms (we've decided to try to open our options), and i headed back towards the junction where my car was parked. wandered around for a bit to get used to the neighbourhood - alex's cousin lives in a place and the apartment next door is for rent. thought that it would be useful to look around, and see if i could get used to the idea. i love the junction... it's just too far!

sunday: woke up fairly early to go look at 1 bedroom apts. found the apartment of my dreams... for WAY too much money. still fighting with myself about whether to go for it... since it's at college and spadina, i spent a good portion of the day walking around downtown - chinatown, sadie's diner for a vegan chocolate, banana peanut butter smoothie, la merceria while waiting (beautiful store... beautiful!!). walked all over the city, overindulged in a rachel roy sweater. i then headed back to emma's, where we watched last kiss. depressingly wonderful. laughed a little, cried a little, talked a little. then i headed out to go for a walk and grab some food with a friend. we walked down to the lakeshore, and wandered around the area. i got back to emma's around 11:00, and we watched the office until way too late. i fell asleep on the couch aka. my home, around 1:30. late night!
good weekend. it felt nice to not have to work!
