the grown up life

I've recently been looking at my closet, bags, shoes, and so on, and thinking to myself that it's time to grow up.
As a result, I've decided to sell a ton of my clothing/purses/shoes, to make room for "investment pieces". I weeded through all my clothes, and came out the other end with two HUGE overflowing laundry baskets for friends and the shelter. I plan to go through it again in about a month, just to give myself a bit of time to let the fact that I got rid of half my clothes out, sink in.
The whole idea of getting rid of a few things, and getting something wonderful in return is what I'm basing this life clean on. For example, I just bought my hunter wellies that I have been drooling over, and saving in my jar for three years. That means that I can donate my two pairs of half working (aka. They leak) rubber boots and streamline life! Yippee! This is the only motivation I have to get rid of stuff. And it seems to work!
What investment pieces am I focusing on, to artificially indicate "adult"?
1. Hunter Wellies (just bought… I chose black. But since I have a commitment issue, I'm worried I should have bought army green. Oh well)
2. a nice 'work/I'm a grown up who doesn't look like I'm a grown up' bag (I ended up getting this in seattle - from nordstroms) (CLEARLY this was on sale).
3. nice black thick/warm, but dressyish and still funky jacket (please note retailers: winter is not over - it's Feb. therefore, sending your winter stock back is STUPID).
4. good computer. Two. Desktop, and laptop. I'm needy. Macs. I'm greedy.
5. tiffany's heart necklace. For me, from me. I have always had this idea in my head of being self sufficient. I always have those things that I told myself, "when I make my first 'real' paycheque…" Unfortunately, a first real paycheque also comes with 'real' responsibility… therefore I haven't actually done many of those things. I have, however, bought myself a suit. A tiffany's necklace is still on the list. There are some things we women need to do for ourselves - and being at a point where I can buy myself tiffany's, is a place I want to be.
6. long sleeve shawls/cardigans (I hate cardigans… so anything that serves as a funky long sleeve version of that) in any colour.

My only struggle is with my matt & nat's. I have 4 - plus multiple change purses, wallets, etc. for someone who is only beginning to pay more than $20 for anything, this indicates my obsession.
Therefore, I am required to decide between those I have loved more than children.
I have:
- a small maroon side bag that barely fits anything, but it's perfect for my wallet, and a camera. Forces me to not carry a lot.
- a HUGE beautiful blue bag that is stupidly large, but so so beautiful.
- two brown bags. Practically sized (yes. I will probably get rid of one, if not two of these - especially since I bought my dooney and burke)
