I had a great weekend.
friday, I left work, a little disheveled, and I have to admit, mind blanked, as I wasn't committing 100% (can many people put 100% into group insurance? Probably not). I gathered up my mind, and headed home, where I grabbed some "supplies" (which proved fruitless - which I'm ok with!!), and picked up miss alex for a girls night which I have become so so fond of with her, and miss erin. Being three of the least girly people I know - despite our love of beads and crafting - our girls nights consist of food beyond words (I leave so full I can't remember what it's like to be hungry), drinks (lots of beer on erin's part - which is what I love about her), lots and lots of talking… and lots more. Three wonderful cats, an even more wonderful apt. and a graciously accepting husband made for a great night of laughs, destashed goodies to new owners, photo plans, and lots and lots of 'sandwiches'. I love these women. Upon agreeing to part, I drove Erin home. For anyone who knows Erin, or has read her blog, erin is the renown queen of trash. She gathers trash, and renews it. And she's darn good at it. I should have known that a ride home would not be complete without some trash pick up - a table for erin, and the prize of garbage collections: a 70's style shell shaped mirror with gold lines for me. What a doll.
*Erin: Once I get my "tea station" and bread box set up, you are going to have a make a space for a guest blogger!!
Sat. I hate to admit that I slept until almost 1pm. Embarassing. I had a hair cut at Donato New talen salon - I was told that the worst thing for thing hair is layers. Aka. You have failed with your hair your entire life. How embarassing for me. Good prices, beautiful salon, easy to get to. I'm sold. I will secretly cut layers into my hair - I'm not convinced that a blunt cut is my best option… We'll see once my styling wand (aka. My shower and sleep hair routine) is in tune with my new do. Bags of clothes went to charity, and I enjoyed Burrito Boyz, new location in Etobicoke. Greig's favourite burrito place in Toronto - I hate to disagree… but I do.
Aside: Fav burrito places in toronto
Chipotle - fresh tortillas, best guacamole, and amazing full beans (not refried)
Big Fat Burrito - grilled tortilla, I can order a vegan burrito, and they ask no further questions… Amazing. Huge. Spicy. Cheap.
Sat night, I literally sat. I sat in front of the tv. I watched two movies, and beaded. I am pumping out fairly standard issue necklaces for my mom's office, in the hopes that her coworkers will buy them to support my cancer initiative. I have to admit, I did make trips to goodwill and VV boutique, and purchased some goodies - not too many I promise! I went to bed quite late, without realizing… it was nice to have a night to myself. I haven't had that in a while.
Sunday I woke up late - again. I originally was scheduled to work, but the owner decided not to open the store, as a result of the slow sundays, and holiday weekend. A full weekend off? Amazing. With the intent that Greig and I were going to spend Sunday night hanging out, I did some cleaning, pre-packing, and drove to Vaughn Mills to check out the lululemon clearance. False - this is not a legitimate clearance. Do not trek all the way up there in the hopes of cheaper things. There are definitely sale items, but not further reduced. I was quite disappointed. I got home frustrated, so I went for a long run… Greig and I decided that a lazy night was in order for us as well - we walked to blockbuster, bought some used DVDs for inexpensive, got starbucks, and walked home. We watched pinapple express, laughed so hard it hurt, and that was that!
Monday I woke up, and Greig and I had agreed to go for a bike ride - we packed an indian picnic lunch, and biked down to the lakeshore. We sat on the rocks, and enjoyed the water, company, and food. We biked back up through high park, and stopped at starbucks for smoothies - after bashing my face on his bike handle, in an attempt to be tough and carry his bike up stairs on my shoulder. Oops. Smoothies, and a bike home later, we were exhausted. We watched yet another movie - Doubt (it was a good movie weekend).
All in all - though still packed with things - my weekend was more relaxing than it has been in a while... And I remembered what it was like to have free time!
My piece of wisdom for the day: A friend is someone who lets the person she's with have the better piece of trash.
