After dropping over $200 at lululemon on sale items, I decided it's about time I reign in my spending habits.
Therefore - shopping ban. I take my inspiration from Kate Miss at "For me, for you" as she is constantly reminding herself of her need for less items in life.
In the nature of jamie attempting to clarify and streamline life, I have submitted to cleansing my soul as well. Last night, my dear friend elizabeth and I did a long awaited clothing swap. We both make a habit of collecting old clothing, and putting it aside to donate. As a motivation to do so, we also swap with one another… it's a wonderful way to spend time together, freshen up the wardrobe, and remind ourselves of what we don't need. For example, both elizabeth and I had on jackets at one point or another of eachothers, and both decided that though beautiful, we both had warm winter jackets, and someone else needed a new warm jacket more than we did.
I love having friends who share my interests.
Rules for shopping ban:
1. no clothes, unless required - i.e. underwear (anyone who knows me, knows that unless I am robbed clean of ALL underwear, I will not need these for a long long time)
2. groceries, if needed - i.e. fresh vegetables, maintenance. I currently have WAY too much food in my cupboards, so priority is to clean these before buying more.
3. beading supplies for things people hire me for - i.e. I've been commissioned for a wedding headpiece (for the second time), and might need to buy some swarovskis for it.
4. Eat out MAX once per week. Instead: Eat at home. Bbq. Picnic. I spend WAY too much money on the amazing restaurants in toronto… too much.
Then a co-worker drops a flyer on my desk… 'Private Client Nike Sale'.
This is going to be hard.
