a year.

a year ago today.
"It always shocked me when I realized that I wasn't the only person in the world who thought and felt such strange and awful things.
Five miles north of school, the Colonol moved into the left lane of the interstate and began to accelerate. I gritted my teeth, and then before us, broken glass glittered in the blare of the sun like the road was wearing jewelry, and that spot must be the spot. He was still accelerating
[...]
And POOF we are through the moment of her death. We are driving through the place that she could not drive through, passing onto asphalt she never saw, and we are not dead. We are not dead! We are breathing and we are crying and now slowing down and moving back into the right lane.
We got off at the next exit, quietly, and, switching drivers, we walked in front of the car. We met and I held him, my hands balled into tight fists around his shoulders, and he wrapped his short arms around me and squeezed tight, so that I felt the heaves of his chest as we realized over and over again that we are still alive. I realized it in the waves and we held on to each other crying and I thought, God we must look so lame, but it doesn't much matter when you have just now realized, all the time later, that you are still alive"
John Green, Looking for Alaska

sometimes we just need to remember - in those places that we hope to never go back to - that we are still alive.

Things I'm in love with.

i've spent this week hustling hard for work, for some other projects i'm working on, getting jewelry done for my last wedding of the season, and spending time with one of my best friends - josh - who is visiting from ontario. it's been crazy and busy and wonderful and emotional and just awesome. all of those things all at once.
so, a few things i'm in love with this week.

this tumblr site - texts from my dog. perfection.

this pusha T / kendrick lamar collaboration.

and this new lil wayne, with chance. "this is not a love song. this is a 'you' song. i just happen to love ya".

this amazing article on the secret hidden features of the new iOS7 just released this week. i needed this.

and finally, this photo of perhaps the 3 most amazing men of all time.

happy weekend everyone!

body chains and beats

super excited to see a piece i made in the new collection video for sara armstrong
sara is a designer originally from saskatchewan, transplanted to vancouver - with a background in fine arts, sculpture, fashion and intermedia, sara brings all together in everything she does. i've been ever so lucky to work with her in a few ways - and this body chain is the perfect compliment to the amazing clothes she designs.
you can see more of sara here, including her most AMAZING S/S 14 lookbook. i'm so in love.

thanks for having me in and amongst the awesome, sara!

my weekend in summary

this weekend was a wonderful one of things being done, some hardcore maxing and relaxing, some motivation to get my business ass in gear, and some due hangouts with friends. sometimes you need a good excuse to dress up and get out - and sometimes you need a good excuse to just hang out with old and new friends in hammocks with wine and crackers. this one was a good one.

coffee workshop with elysian coffee - learning about beans, and pairings; coffee takeaways for some mailed presents to the parents; some goodies from re:claim, heading to oliver & lilly's; weekday work place; photo shoots with a handsome man for work; work meetings are pretty tough - right? touching base with lizzy karp from the rain city chronicles (she's a beauty); packages from the best friends that anyone ever had; hard to tell most days; business meetings take on a new meaning; my new marc john's print - a gift from a friend. luckiest? i know; hammock heaven on a friday night; UBC campus with some fog rolling in - just the prettiest; some weekend treats... for myself. a family necklace.

happy monday everyone!

things i'm in love with

this week will be quick, as i wait for erin to get ready (and to blowdry my hair), and compile some of the things i'm in love with this week....

this marriage proposal in home depot. specifically the little girlies in tutus doing cartwheels. best.

these incredible pod home offices.... for those who work from home, but need a space to call their own.... THAT LOOKS LIKE A POD.

these stunning images from the series lea COCO by julie cerise. so dreamy... very 'virgin suicides' like. love all of this series.

and finally, this song, which seems to appropriately reflect the mood i'm in this week.

happy friday everyone!
