countdown to Christmas: 4 days - decorating for the holidays

last week before Christmas - and i'm thinking about ways to decorate my dream apartment... that maybe i will have next year!
awesome entry on different ways to decorate in an unconventional space on design is mine

i love antlers, in various manners (paper, etc.), and i LOVE this simple decorating from cupcakes and cashmere.

though not a holiday specific stylized table setting, Ikea created this table setting as a tribute to the wedding of the Royal Princess of Sweden. stunning.

love love love decorating. for any reason. and the change in season means more decorating.

my weekend in summary

this is my first weekend back into things - and finally a weekend to put my in a good mood in the midst of all my back issues.
friday: after being up until 4am in pain, i went into work to confirm that i would be off work until the new year - unfortunately i went into work last week, and my chiropractor said i set myself back about a week and a half by going in. so i went into work to have some blood work done (in order to book my CT scan appointment), and then spoke with my manager about remaining work. It was tough for me, as being immobile and non-social is really tough for me. i went home, and cleaned, packed, finished up some stuff for the party the next day.
Saturday: woke up late (clearly needed the sleep), and packed more, showered, and waited for my friend to pick me up. took the long ride to waterloo, where we had our annual 'triple threat' party. triple threat started in university, when i was the only girl who hung out with my group of guy friends - except for two other girlfriends. we became the three girls who were always there... triple threat. the three of us planned get togethers, parties, grad dinners, and holiday celebrations. now, every year, we have a holiday party with all the university guys (and us) - we're no longer the only 3 girls, but we have all stuck together throughout the years. AND we wear matching outfits. this year was sequins.
this year we also were inducting someone into triple threat - jake's gf kim. multiple tests of strength, dancing, and drinking were required. it was a fantastic night - as it always is.
wine for the evening, with my 'wine charm'; the two cripples (broken back and broken clavical); bar friends bri and josh; gingerbread person.
sunday: woke up late (i got a bed, because i was one of the 'cripples') and had some breakfast - then drove home with a few drop offs... and spent the rest of the day at home, watching movies, and cleaning.
as we approach the holidays (though Hanukkah is over now), it gets busier and busier, and harder and harder to see friends and family. so enjoy all the moments - this was the last weekend until Christmas... I can't believe it!

countdown to Christmas: 5 days - holiday cards

i love cards. i love making them, sending them, and receiving them.
the holidays are the perfect time for letterpress cards and supporting local or handcrafted cards.

1. 'joy' cards from morris and essex on etsy
2. 'noel' cards from shanna murray on bigcartel
3. menorah cards from rifle paper co.
4. bird wreath cards from night owl paper goods
5. peace on earth card from eggpress
6. return address stamp from premiele on etsy

handmade Christmas.

a lot of the blogs i read are doing their usual 'gift guides' - and i stumbled onto 'poppytalk' who is doing purely handmade giftguides...
so. here is my 'gift guide of things that would be good to give to other people, but i want them myself too - which is how i know that they are good gifts' (title too long? no, i didn't think so either):

terariums from old faithful
i LOVE totem goodies... cupcake molds on kikkerland and totem cups on gselect
a print from sollinero's etsy shop

also - is it weird that this is my favourite gift guide... and it's supposed to be for men?
